IIM-C issues admission letters with caveat on fees

Our Bureau

Kolkata , May 12

THE Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) today issued admission letters for 2004-05 with a caveat on fee payment terms, according to officials in its admission department.

The short-listed candidates have been asked to pay up a deposit of Rs 25,000. The admission letters, however, mentioned that students may have to make additional payment if the Supreme Court's verdict strikes down the Union Human Resource Development Ministry's order to cut fee. Last year IIM-C had charged a student of around Rs 48,000 at the time of admission.

Meanwhile, a single bench of the Calcutta High Court today heard the petition by the IIM-C Faculty Council challenging the validity of the IIM-C board of governors meeting on March 26. The court asked the parties - the Union Government and the IIM-C Faculty Council - to file an affidavit.
