Creating a benchmark

This is with reference to "Infosys sets 3:1 bonus; fires market" (Business Line, April 14): Congratulations to Infosys for reaching the $1-billion mark in revenues and being a cause of another feel good factor with its stakeholders. . This achievement is remarkable as the software industry was written off and several companies were affected as a result.

Companies such as Infosys justify its existence in society, not for its ability to generate revenues but for its policies of percolating down the benefits to all stakeholders. In an environment where companies have to be constantly goaded to establish and follow the policies of good corporate governance, Infosys should be congratulated for creating a benchmark in all these areas.
