Chennai , March 25

LG Electronics India has opened a store in Chennai, the X-Canvas studio, to sell its high-end electronic products.

The move is to communicate directly with the customer, said Mr Prasanna Raghavan, Product Group Head, New Display Products.

He added X-Canvas allowed the company to provide the customer with "personalised attention" that was otherwise not possible when its products were sold through shops that stocked many brands.

Chennai's X-Canvas studio follows four similar shops set up in different cities. The first shop came up in Mumbai a year ago, and the next one would be set up in New Delhi shortly (New Delhi already has one such shop).

X-Canvas studio is a sub-brand of LG, said Mr Raghavan. It is present in Europe, and in Asia the chain started in India. He pointed out that the studios were dissimilar in the different continents because the market had evolved more in Europe.

In India, the studios stock LG's plasma televisions, home theatre projectors, amplifiers from Onkyo and speakers from B&W.

LG Electronics India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of LG Electronics, South Korea.
