The new estate or weekend variant, to be called the Indigo Marina, is expected to be priced below the Rs 6-lakh mark, ex-showroom. The Indigo Marina is expected to be launched by mid-2004. It will be powered by the same turbo charged engine that is currently available in the Indigo. All the three cars, the Indica V2, the Indigo and the Indigo Marina are all built on the same platform. Announcing the launch of the new cars, Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Motors, said that the company is looking at developing more passenger car models on this platform. ``In the years to come, we will widen the product range with new products on the existing platform,'' he said. Tata Motors had launched the Tata Indigo on the same platform last year. The sedan is currently the largest selling the C segment of the car market. The new Indica V2 sports a chrome-lined grille and full sized alloy wheel covers, front fog lamps, new wheel arch fairs and sill valence covers. The rear seats in the new Indica V2 have been redesigned into a 60:40 foldable split to flexible seating options. The new version also features an electronic instrument cluster with dimmer controls and two digital trip counters. A tachometer as standard fitment and indication lights for low fuel levels, high engine temperature and door ajar warning have been added. Besides these two cars, Tata Motors has also unveiled the 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) concept, the Tata Indiva at the expo here. The Indiva's modern, futuristic styling and technology demonstration drew good reviews at the Geneva Auto show last year. This too has been built on the same platform as the Indica and Indigo. The Indiva has been designed as a compact, space efficient vehicle. Mr Tata said that the vehicle is meant to demonstrate the versatility of the Indica platform. But specific production plans have not been finalised for the vehicle, he added. The company has also showcased a number of other vehicles, including the new Sumo EX+, new buses and new design commercial vehicles.
