Hyderabad , Dec. 29

COME January and the Numaish or the All-India Industrial Exhibition will be back hosting about 2,700 stalls featuring trade, industry, commerce, where hundreds of dealers and manufacturers from all over the country will showcase their products and services.

The 64th essay of the exhibition, which was started as Numaish Masnuaat-E-Mulki, by a few visionaries way back in 1938, has assumed the proportions of a mega industrial exhibition in which more than 2.5 million people visited and shopped last year, according to Mr T.V. Narayana Rao, Vice-President of Exhibition Society, which hosts the 45-day exposition. Last year, the gate collection and stall receipts were estimated at about Rs 4 crore, he added.

At a press conference, Mr Rao said the State Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, is slated to inaugurate the exhibition on January 1. The exhibition, besides hosting diverse products and manufacturers' stalls, will also have an exclusive space for lady entrepreneurs which will be allotted to the ALEAP (Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of Andhra Pradesh) members.

Apart from serving as a showpiece for many public sector undertakings, the event hosts electronic and white good manufacturers. They include Usha International, Sansui, LG, Videocon, Kenstar, Onida and BSNL. This is well complemented by an exclusive centre for Dwcra (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) members who bring their products and market them as groups.

This year, the Exhibition Society has planned to felicitate distinguished industrialists from the State. Accordingly, Dr T. Vivekanand of Visakha Industries Ltd, Mr Mela Satyanarayana of Sudhakar PVC Pipes and Dr P.V. Subba Reddy of Sri Krishna Pharmaceuticals would be given the best industrialists awards, he said.
