Kochi Ad Club to start one-year diploma course

Our Bureau

Kochi , Dec. 29

THE Advertisement Club of Kochi is scheduled to start a one-year PG Diploma Course in Advertisement Management from February 2004. The course will be conducted in association with advertisement and media professionals.

"The Ad Club Kochi has given shape to a focused programme in advertising that will impart in-depth theoretical knowledge with simultaneous practical experience," the Ad Club said in a faxed message. It lamented the fact that, though there is a multiplicity of institutes that have included advertising as part of their academic programmes, the students coming out of these institutes lack any practical training. While they have some theoretical exposure, it is hardly sufficient to face the challenges found in the advertising industry.

The course has been designed as an entry level-coaching programme for those who aspire for a career in advertising. The theory sessions, which will be offered during the first three quarters of the course will cover marketing management, communication, client servicing and administration, media, creative production and advertising research. The last quarter has been earmarked for a project work in an advertising agency.

For the academic side, the Ad Club has entered into a tie up with Centre for Resource Development and Research (CRDR), Aluva.
