HYDERABAD: The multi-crore fake stamp paper scam is fast snowballing into a political controversy with senior Ministers in the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday criticising the Congress Party for asking the Governor to dismiss the State Government.

Addressing a joint press conference, Mr Ashok Gajapati Raju, Mr Kadiam Srihari, Mr S. Chandramohan Reddy and Mr Devender Goud, said the Telugu Desam Government was always quick to act and take action against the guilty. "We took no time to suspend and then expel Mr Krishna Yadav, its MLA from the party after his arrest by the Maharashtra police," he said.

The Congress Party submitted a memorandum on Tuesday to Mr Surjit Singh Barnala, the Governor, appealing to him to dismiss the State Government, which, it alleged, tried to suppress the scam.
