Announcements Ranbaxy gets US nod for Amoxicillin Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug 14 PHARMA major Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has received the green signal from the US regulatory authority to market its new dosage form of Amoxicillin, which is used to target bacterial infections in children. The company said that it had received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to market DisperMox, which is Ranbaxy's brand of Amoxicillin tablets. The clearance is for the oral suspension form in 200 mg and 400 mg strengths, according to a company communiqué. The Amoxicillin suspensions/chewable tablet market is estimated to be in excess of $105.7 million in the US. DisperMox is the generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Amoxil and will be launched in the US by October 2003 and will be marketed and distributed by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc (RPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of RLL. Market development of this novel dosage form and manufacturing will remain a primary role of Ranbaxy, whereas the sales activities will be outsourced from Blansett Pharmacal Co. (Blansett), Arkansas.
