Political discipline

The Centre's proposal to adopt "No work no pay for MPs" is a welcome move, and should be implemented in State Assemblies too. With Parliament proceedings costing something close to Rs 8 lakh an hour, it is not right to waste money. Also, better governance should be ensured.

The MLAs and MPs of the country need to be disciplined and made to follow a code of conduct. No meaningful discussion takes place when important Bills are passed.

Bills pertaining to members' benefits get cleared without any open or proper discussion. Stalling the proceedings of Parliament and State Assemblies at the drop of a hat should not be allowed.
