SETS in pact with Anna University

Our Bureau

Chennai , July 21

THE Society for Electronic Transaction and Security (SETS) today signed an agreement with Anna University, Chennai, to collaborate in research and development and product development on security technologies.

The joint initiative is being established at the Anna University-K.B. Chandrasekhar Research Centre at MIT, Chennai, Dr E. Balagurusamy, Vice Chancellor, Anna University, told presspersons here today.

The SETS is a private-public partnership venture initiated by the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India to foster the growth of information security.

Dr M.S. Vijayaraghavan, Executive Director, SETS, said his organisation would market some of the security-related products that Anna University develops. The market for IT security is huge even as SETS would create awareness and market security-related IT products among corporates. The SETS would also work with Anna University on security product development, and if need arises request the University to reshape/reorient the product to suite client's requirement, he said.

The SETS has a similar tie up with the Kalasalingam College of Engineering, Srivilliputhur in Tamil Nadu, and plans another with the Institute of Mathematical Science, he said.
