Air Deccan flights to operate soon

Our Bureau

COIMBATORE, June 15

The private airliner, Deccan Aviation Pvt. Ltd, from Bangalore has sought to run two smaller aircraft on the Coimbatore-Bangalore and Coimbatore-Chennai sectors.

The private air operator has sent its proposal in this connection to the Civil Aviation Ministry and it is said that the Bangalore-based airliner intends to run the `Air Deccan' flights with the two 48-seater aircraft on these two routes, possible during morning hours. The new service is likely to resume operations by August, reliable sources say.

There has been increasing demand from the businessmen and trade here for enhancing the air connectivity between Coimbatore to Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. The trade and industry grievance has been that businessmen travelling from Coimbatore to Mumbai are forced to halt two nights in Mumbai due to the absence of a late evening return flight the same day to Coimbatore from Mumbai. The introduction of the morning flight to Chennai and Bangalore and its return flight is expected to increase the connectivity for Coimbatore-bound travellers from upcountry airports.
