Painting chosen for Arts Olympiad

BANGALORE: A painting by ten-year-old Preethi Shet of Bangalore has been chosen as the Indian entry to the 2003 International Child Art Festival.The event, better known as the Arts Olympiad, and organised once in four years by the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF), will be held in Washington DC during September 6-13 this year.

According to ICAF's national partner Chandana Art Foundation International, Preethi's painting was chosen from among 125 paintings that made entry for an all-India competition with the theme `Me in the New Millennium.'

The Olympiad is open to children of the age group 8-12 and comes to India for the first time. Selected art works will be on display at `The Child Art and Creativity' expo at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore, from June 25 to 29.
