HYDERABAD, June 11

THE information technology and communications division of Samsung India Electronics Ltd on Wednesday launched its range of personal computers under BuildurPC concept in the Andhra Pradesh market.

The company also plans to increase its reach across 15 cities with the new product for a very comprehensive coverage.

The Country Manager-BuPC, Samsung India, Mr Princy Bhatnagar, said that the company had appointed Redington India Ltd, as its distributor and would appoint 25 retail partners and about 10 corporate resellers. It is also setting up 15 additional service centres across the region to provide the best customer service support.

Ivy Computers has established a system integration unit for Samsung BuPC in Goa to cater to the needs of the Andhra Pradesh market. A customer can get a Samsung assembled PC based on the configuration for his needs and of his choice.

Giving details of the market potential, Mr Bhatnagar said that the total market size of PCs in the State was estimated at about 1.54 lakh PCs per annum. Out of this, 55,000 are branded PC and 90,000 lakh are assembled.

Samsung, which has a 60 per cent share in the assembled PC market with its range of products, is planning to acquire about 12 per cent share in the State.

Mr Bhatnagar said that Samsung firmly believed that having a regional manufacturing and logistics operation would enable it to respond to local needs including service much faster.

"We plan to utilise our build to order (BTO) capabilities to create new openings in the corporate sector. Out of about 4,000 SMEs, which have been recently recorded about 800 are located in Andhra Pradesh. We see this segment offering us huge opportunity and we expect Andhra Pradesh to account for about seven per cent of our total PC sales,'' he said.
