MUMBAI, June 4

THE Government will try to implement the much-awaited National Electricity Policy and National Tariff Policy within the next six months, Mr R.V. Shahi, Union Power Secretary, said here today.

He said the Electricity Act 2003 is likely to be notified in the next 10 days as the President has given his assent. ``The Presidential assent to the Act was received on Tuesday and the power ministry will try to notify it as soon as possible,'' Mr Shahi said at a seminar organised by Confederation of Indian Industries, here today.

He also said that a draft of the National Electricity Policy and National Tariff Policy would be ready in the next four to six weeks. "The National Electricity Policy will cover all energy sources and how these will be used optimally," Mr Shahi said.
