Industry Associations CII's E. Asian hqs in Shanghai to begin work from July Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, May 25 IN a major thrust towards increasing trade ties with China, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has announced its decision to locate its East Asian headquarters in Shanghai and start operations from July 1 to coordinate its activities in the region. The apex chambers also announced the launch of `India Club' in Shanghai, which would help Indian companies operate through an unmanned representative offices in China. Announcing this here today, Mr Piyush Bahl, Senior Director of CII, said that the members of the club would get an opportunity to showcase their products and services at the Shanghai Mart, the most happening buyer-seller meeting place in East Asia, Mr Bahl said, addressing a CII meeting. The moves assume significance in the backdrop of the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to China, which is expected to make headway in removing roadblocks for improvement in bilateral trade and relations.
