HYDERABAD, April 25

THE recently created specialised sales and marketing wing of the Tata group's telecom service providers - Tata Telecom Enterprise Business Unit (TEBU) - on Friday announced the launch of its services across eight cities in the country. It is targeting revenues of Rs 550 crore - Rs 600 crore this fiscal offering both voice and data solutions.

The President of TEBU, Mr Ajay Pandey, addressing a press conference here, said the TEBU which was created following the signing of memorandum of understanding between VSNL, Tata TeleServices Ltd, Tata TeleServices (Maharashtra) Ltd (Hughes) and Tata Internet services Ltd, will provide a single point of interface through which companies will deliver telecom services to key corporate customers across Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad.

"With this development, we plan to consolidate our marketing operations and further strengthen the numbers from the existing 80 to 120 in due course. This will enable these companies to offer integrated voice and data solutions under the group's telecom umbrella brand - Tata Indicom. The initiative was designed to tap market synergies between the four companies so as to address the changing needs of corporates," he explained.

When asked to comment whether this would eventually pave the way for consolidating these companies and bringing them under one company, Mr Pandey said that as of now this was just a marketing initiative to provide a simple interface to specially selected enterprise clients. About 200 of them have been chosen based on the current business and future potential.
