MRF Q2 net up; to pay Rs 3 interim

CHENNAI, April 17

MRF Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 17.45 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2003 - the second quarter. In the corresponding period of last year, it made a net profit of Rs 13.34 crore.

However, in the quarter under review, there was a `prior period income' (excise duty, net of taxes) of Rs 50.80 crore. Adding that, the net profit works out to Rs 68.25 crore.

The board of directors has decided to pay an interim dividend of Rs 3 per share (30 per cent). Turnover for the quarter was also up at Rs 622.35 crore (Rs 531.08 crore).

In the first half of the current year, MRF's turnover was Rs 1,248.50 crore (Rs 1,049.73 crore), and net profit, Rs 88.43 crore (Rs 22.50 crore).
