Apollo Tyres lifts lockout at Pune unit

K.R. Srivats

NEW DELHI, April 17

THE management of Apollo Tyres Ltd has lifted the lockout at the automobile tube manufacturing plant at Ranjangaon in Pune. The plant accounts for about 15-20 per cent of the total tube requirements of the company.

The lockout has been lifted from March 31 and normal production is now on in that facility, according to Mr Sunam Sarkar, Chief- Strategy and Business operations, ATL.

Operations were suspended in that facility from February 7 on account of what the management termed it as `labour problems'.

The management maintained that the suspension of operations at the tube manufacturing plant had not affected the company's overall operations as alternative arrangements for sourcing of tubes were made in that period.
