Motorcycle foray helps LML prune loss

NEW DELHI, April 17

TWO-WHEELER manufacturer LML Ltd has posted a net loss of Rs 27.69 crore for the year ended March 31, 2003, compared to a net loss of Rs 44.39 crore in fiscal 2001-02.

Riding on its successful foray into the motorcycles segment, the company's net sales have increased to Rs 574.5 crore in 2002-03 from Rs 470.42 crore in 2001-02.

During the period, LML was also able to improve its operating profit to Rs 17.45 crore, compared to a loss of Rs 3.35 crore in fiscal 2002.

Freedom has received a positive response. Keeping this in mind, LML is planning to raise production capacity and range of motorcycles.
