CHENNAI, April 17

TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) has taken on lease the new software development centre of SSI Ltd in Chennai.

TCS intends to occupy the centre for at least two years — till its own software development centre at Siruseri gets ready.

TCS expects its staff strength in Chennai to increase from about 7,000 to around 10,000 this year. According to the company's Vice-President, Mr Ravi Shah, (who took over as the head of the Chennai operations recently), TCS would move about 2,000 of its staff into the SSI centre next month.
