DD plans digital terrestrial for car TVs

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, April 17

CAR stereos have attained popularity. Doordarshan is now planning to make car televisions a reality.

As part of its plans to promote digital terrestrial transmission (DTT), Doordarshan (DD) is planning to initiate talks with Japanese and Taiwanese companies to bring in car televisions. "By using DTT, one will get clear pictures without any disturbance," said Dr S.Y. Quraishi, Director-General of DD.

DTT operations have already started in the four metros for beaming into households, for which investments of Rs 24 crore have already been made. But DD has been slow in expanding DTT, as households would have to buy set-top boxes (STB).
