Resorts & Amusement Parks Lifestyle project from Creative Hortifarms Ambar Singh Roy
KOLKATA, April 17 THE Kolkata-based Creative Hortifarms Pvt Ltd has embarked upon a `lifestyle project' keeping in view the growing needs of the health-conscious in contemporary, modern-day society. Stated to be among the first of its kind in eastern India, the project is estimated to entail an investment of around Rs 40 crore, a portion of which is being pumped in by its promoters. A marketing tie-up has been entered into with MMG, a well-known marketing consultant here, for taking the project to prospective clientele. Christened `Country Roads', the project seeks to replicate the concept that is in vogue in the western world where most people live in the salubrious climes of the suburbs and go downtown only for work. A total of 135 outwardly-identical, duplex bungalows measuring between 840 sq ft and 3,100 sq ft having one bedroom and up to five bedrooms, respectively, are being constructed. According to Mr Aditya Kumar Bajoria, Director of Creative Hortifarms, the project is spread over 35 acres of land and is situated 26 kilometres away from Kolkata's Central Business District. "Country Roads is a lifestyle product for the discerning, health-conscious nature-lover. The construction area will barely comprise five per cent of the total land area. Facilities in the complex include a club for use of residents, a swimming pool and other modern amenities which facilitate healthy lifestyles,'' Mr Bajoria said. According to him, commitments for purchase of 32 units have already been received. The fact that the project is located just off National Highway 6 which is part of the Golden Quadrilateral Project has helped in attracting people. "Most of those who have booked units at Country Roads have done so with the idea of having these as weekend getaways. It is only a question of time when these become the preferred place of stay consequent upon the completion of the Golden Quadrangle Project when commuting to the heart of Kolkata's business district will barely take 20-25 minutes,'' Mr Bajoria added, adding that the entire project would be completed by end-2004.
