Rubber prices steady

Our Correspondent

KOTTAYAM, April 17

RUBBER prices ruled steady on Thursday with no changes reported for any grades. Arrivals were very low. Transactions continued to be thin as the buyers kept away from the market.

The ongoing truck operators' strike has almost strangled the market. Market circles pointed out that a much active market could be expected from Monday when the market opens after Easter. The rubber market will remain closed on Friday.

The prices of all the grades remained unchanged on Thursday with RSS 4 ruling at Rs 51.50 a kg and RSS 5 at Rs 49.50. The block rubber ISNR 20 appeared steady at Rs 49. The prices of latex concentrate and ungraded rubber were also static at Rs 38 and Rs 48.50 respectively as on Wednesday.
