Cars Logistics - Roadways Truckers strike may cast its shadow on Maruti Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, April 16 MARUTI Udyog Ltd (MUL) may have to temporarily stop production if the ongoing truckers' strike does not end in the next few days, as component supplies to the carmaker will be affected. "We have very low inventories and if we don't get new supplies, we won't be able to manufacture," the MUL Managing Director, Mr Jagdish Khattar, said here at the sidelines of the launch of the Grand Vitara XL-7. He said despatches from the company's plant, located at Gurgaon near here, had been reduced by about 10 per cent since the truckers started the strike on Monday. Maruti sources components from across the country and its vehicles are despatched to dealerships by road.
