Our Bureau

KOCHI: The foundation stone for the new block of the PVS Memorial Hospital and Trade Centre will be laid by the Chief Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, on the hospital premises on April 12.

Mr P.V. Chandran, Chairman of the hospital, said that 10 new super-speciality departments would be started at the hospital, in addition to expanding facilities in the 25 existing departments.

The first phase of the construction programme, which is scheduled to be completed in 14 months, is expected to cost Rs 50 crore. The new block will have 15 storeys. A hydrotherapy pool, meditation centre and garden would form part of the new block. With the completion of the first phase, PVS would become a 450-bedded hospital, he added.
