A.S. Kasliwal passes away

NEW DELHI, April 8

THE former President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Mr A.S. Kasliwal, passed away today.

In a statement issued here, the Chamber mourned the passing away of its former President.

In his long career as an industrialist, Mr Kasliwal turned the family business he headed into one of the household names in the country, the chamber said. S. Kumar's Group became an industrial conglomerate with interests in textiles, energy, information technology, e-commerce and leisure under his guidance. Taking advantage of the liberalisation, introduced post 1991-92, S. Kumar's Group was the first private sector company to set up a hydel power plant in Madhya Pradesh.
