Events ESC participating in Gitex Saudi expo Vimala Vasan
ABU DHABI, March 24 THE Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) is participating in a big way in the GITEX Saudi Arabia 2003 to be organised between April 27 and May 1, with the primary objective of providing Indian IT companies opportunities for tapping the expanding West Asian market. The Council's participation at GITEX 2003, billed as one of the largest international IT event in West Asia, will provide the widest possible exposure to the Indian IT companies, particularly the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to showcase their diverse range of products and services. "Over the last few years, it has stepped up the promotional activities in certain identified regions with very positive results and will continue to step up the momentum to explore newer and emerging markets for maintaining the high growth rates of IT exports", said Mr Kamal Vachani, Regional Representative of ESC for the UAE and Middle East. Mr Vachani said that the West Asia represented massive potential to be tapped. The demand for IT products in Saudi Arabia was ever growing. It is by far the region's largest IT market, currently accounting for 40% of regional sales. The largest segment in the IT sector, Internet applications, are currently drawing $ 6 billion worth of investment with market leaders reporting 40 -50 per cent growth annually. There had been a phenomenal rise in IT exports from India to West Asian countries, particularly applications software, hardware and IT consultancy, he said. Despite the recent global slowdown, ESC is confident that this year's show would have more visitors and result in multi-million dollar deals and strategic alliances. On display at the pavilions will be cutting edge products and services including advanced ISP solutions, ASP business host systems, e-business and Web tools, multi-lingual industrial & retail software, mobile computing & WA technology, networking & business communication, IT systems and components and a host of other products and services. Some of the important Indian IT companies, participating at the GITEX Saudi Arabia 2003, under the ESC banner, are Wings Infonet Ltd, Zenith Computers Ltd, KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd, Brain Roots Solutions Pvt Ltd, Rhombus Technologies Pvt Ltd, i-flex Solutions Ltd, SDG Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Mahavir Decorative Products Pvt Ltd.
