Letters Divestment concerns
This is with reference to your editorial "Disinvestment ironies"(Business Line, February 17): It draws attention to the contradictions within the BJP and also the Congress(I). Unions, Iraq crisis, election compulsions and vote bank politics are other factors affecting the disinvestment process. Under such an environment, the Budget session of Parliament has commenced. Key economic Bills await Parliament nod. Will the major political groups led by the BJP and the Congress give priority to economic considerations? Perhaps, the Punjab Government can show the way in public sector reforms to the Centre and other State governments. A. Jacob Sahayam Karigiri (TN)
