Airspace violation: India to take up issue with ICAO

NEW DELHI, Feb. 5

INDIA is to make a formal complaint to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) about the manner in which the Karachi Air Traffic Controller allowed a Boeing 757 aircraft of an American company to stray into the Indian airspace, the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, said here.

The Minister pointed out that the Karachi Air Traffic Controller allowed the plane into the air corridor N 591 although traffic is not allowed into this area between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The aircraft was forced to land at the Mumbai airport by the Indian authorities after the intrusion was discovered.
