MUMBAI, Dec. 4

BLUE Dart Express Ltd has entered into an interline agreement with South African Airways to provide the latter marketing access to all the other metros in India. The agreement came into effect on November 26, 2002.

According to a release here, the alliance will facilitate movement of the airline's shipments to and from these locations through Blue Dart's infrastructure of bonded warehouses and freighters. This is Blue Dart's 20th interline agreement.

"Interline carriage is a domestic service offering to airlines that require higher volumes of space to carry shipments into locations that they (the airlines) do not operate. We are confident that the agreement will enable wider customer access to South African Airways' services," the release said quoting Ms Tulsi N. Mirchandaney, Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Projects, Blue Dart.

Further, quoting the Regional Cargo Manager — India & Nepal, South African Airways, Mr Vikramjit Ahluwalia, the release added: "South African Airways has four flights a week from Mumbai to Johannesburg. We offer connectivity to carry shipments to South America and Africa via Johannesburg.

The interline agreement with Blue Dart provides us with the reach to offer our services to customers in all other metros in the country".
