Definitive duty on sodium nitrite from EU, Taiwan

IN a relief for the domestic producers of sodium nitrite in the country, the Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on all imports of sodium nitrite from the European Union (EU) and Taiwan. A definitive anti-dumping duty usually lasts for five years, unless reviewed in the interim period.
Deepak Nitrite had filed the petition seeking anti-dumping probe on sodium nitrite imports from the EU and Taiwan. There are four producers of sodium nitrite in the country including Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers, National Fertilisers Ltd and Punjab Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals.
A definitive anti-dumping duty of $51.83 per tonne has been imposed on imports of sodium nitrite from the EU. In the case of all exporters of sodium nitrite from Taiwan, a definitive anti-dumping duty of $107.85 per tonne has been imposed.
