Our Bureau

BANGALORE, Nov. 2

BACKED by a successful concept selling of a fast-selling consumable like automotive batteries through `dial-a-battery' outlets, Base Corporation Ltd is now pursuing the path of OEM for faster growth in volume.

Though there was no near-time plan, the company is studying the prospects at the back of rapid increase in the sales of the international brands like Panasonic from Japan and Varta from Germany.

Base, which sells exclusively the world's two leading brands through its distribution franchisees, Base Terminals, has sold about 5,000 batteries in the nine months since it started trading in these imported brands. The company has been engaged in UPS batteries for the IT sector.

Talking to Business Line about the company's plans, Mr Girish Arora, Managing Director, said "we are in talks with three to four companies for OEM arrangement."
