Essar bags TN water scheme contract

MUMBAI: Essar Constructions Ltd, a part of the Essar group, has bagged a Rs 43-crore contract for developing a combined water supply scheme in Madurai and Theni districts of Tamil Nadu.

According to a release, the Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage Board (TWADB) is developing the drinking water distribution network in Andipatti, Sedapatty, T. Kallupatty and Usilampatty Unions. The contract involves laying of 750 km of pipes ranging from 32 mm to 1000 mm diameter, construction of an intake well, eight clear water sumps with a capacity ranging from 10,000 litres to 12 lakh litres, four sump houses, a 32 MLD water treatment plant and 153 elevated water reservoirs.
