`Time not ripe for deregulation'

NEW DELHI, Sept. 14

INDIA needs to regulate the power sector for at least another 10 years, according to the Power Secretary, Mr R.V. Shahi.

``There is a massive mismatch in demand and supply of electricity... if it is deregulated now, we may end up with chaotic conditions in the system,'' Mr Shahi said at a seminar on deregulation of power markets.
