Royal touch again to Dussera fest

Our Bureau

BANGALORE, Sept.8

DUSSERA festival in Mysore is set to regain its splendour and glory after a gap of six years with the Mysore Maharaja, Srikantadatta Woodeyar, MP, extending cooperation to the Government's efforts to arrange for an interaction between the visitors and the royal scion.

The Dussera festival had remained a low key after it had been taken over by the Government.

A special attraction for the overseas visitors this year will be the meeting with the Maharaja of Mysore.

"Every day 50 lucky visitors will sit across the table in Khaas Durbar and interact with Mr Woodeyar and share the magnificent aura of the festival and a culture that is spread over 500 years," said Mr M.B. Jayaram, Advisor to Chief Minister (Communications).

Apart from the meeting, the overseas visitors will have the facility of exclusive enclaves from where they will get to view the various events during the festival period.

This year's Dussera festival is set to assume greater scale of celebration, with sponsors from private and corporate sectors expected to invest in the festival events.
