NEW DELHI, Aug. 26

HONDA Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI), the wholly-owned subsidiary of two-wheeler giant, Honda Motor Company, has priced its second model for India, `Dio' at Rs 37,814 (on road, Delhi).

Dio, touted as the first `motorscooter' in India, was launched last month. It is powered by a 102 cc, 4-stroke engine with variomatic transmission.

HMSI plans to introduce Dio in a phased manner starting south September 20, followed by west, north and east. The company will add 42 new dealerships, taking the total number to 102, HMSI said in a statement here.

The company plans to sell 1.55 lakh scooters in the domestic market in the current fiscal, with Dio contributing around 15 per cent of the sales. Dio will also be exported to South and Central America, Africa, Europe, West Asia and Asian countries.

This year HMSI will export 10,000 scooters out of which 4,000 would be Dio.

The company entered the Indian two-wheeler market on its own with the Activa model. Honda currently makes motorcycles for the Indian market through its joint venture with Hero Group.
