Kenyan project on, says Infosys

BANGALORE, July 29

INFOSYS Technologies has said that its $6 million product implementation project at the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) was on course and denied that it has lost the project as reported in a section of the media recently.

Infosys is implementing its Finacle solution for the Kenya Commercial Bank. Quashing media reports, Mr Girish Vaidya, Senior Vice-President and Head Banking Business Unit, Infosys said, ``the project is very much on and there have been no comments from the bank on cancellation of it. We are presently looking at customising the project to suit the bank's needs.''

Quoting a rejoinder issued by KCB to a report appearing in a section of the African media, Mr Vaidya said, ``it contradicts the media reports that KCB has cancelled the project with Infosys.'' KCB clarified in local media that three Infosys officials had left the country early in June as their visa neared expiry and the bank was initiating applications for special passes for them to return to Kenya.
