Soota to lead CEOs' team to US

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, June 14

THE President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr Ashok Soota, is to lead a delegation of Chief Executive Officers to the US from June 17.

A key concern that the delegation will focus on during its six-day stay in the US is the economic impact of the travel advisories and the related actions of the US Administration. Besides, the delegation will also meet with senior representatives of the US Administration and members of the Congress and impress on them the need to bring bilateral economic relations back on track.

Besides the Deputy Secretary, Department of Commerce, Mr Samuel Bodman, the CII delegation is also scheduled to meet with the Under Secretary for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs, Ambassador Alan Larson, and the Deputy USTR, Ambassador Jon Huntsman.

The delegation during its meetings will also focus on strengthening Indo-US trade and investment, especially in the light of the expansion of the Indo-US economic dialogue with the addition of a strong private sector component. Besides, the chamber will be organising the maiden meeting of its Offshore IT committee during the CEOs' visit. The chamber delegation includes the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, SRF Ltd, Mr Arun Bharat Ram, the Tata International Ltd Managing Director, Mr Sudhir Deoras, the ITC Chairman, Mr Y.C. Deveshwar, the Tata Sons Ltd Director, Dr J.J. Irani, and the NIIT CEO, Mr Vijay Thadani.
