SKF launches auto bearings kit

HYDERABAD, May 9

SKF Bearings India Ltd has announced the launch of special automotive bearings kits for the replacement market and has entered into a partnership with Sundaram Motors for marketing the latest range.

These kits have been specially developed to give after-market mechanics and consumers a complete SKF branded kit, the company has said.

Mr Torsten Nordgren, Managing Director of SKF Bearings India, said the launch of automotive kits in India was an important step in SKF's ongoing work to strengthen and grow its `aftermarket business,' with high value- added products and services.

"We are pleased to have entered into a partnership with Sundaram Motors for the initial launch and marketing of our automotive bearings kits through their extensive network of professionally-managed service stations and retailer chain in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh,'' he said.

The Executive Director of Sundaram Motors, Mr K.R. Raghavan, said SKF and Sundaram Motors had joined together to enable the service industry to enhance productivity to the advantage of owners of vehicles.

The concept of ensuring components of the highest quality gathered together in a kit for a particular overhaul is now quite prevalent in advanced markets such as Europe and the US. This will be extended here.

The SKF kits come in attractive boxes incorporating features such as copy-proof packing, distinct marking as a safeguard against tampering and counterfeiting and mounting instructions.

In the first phase, SKF plans to assemble wheel bearing kits at its Pune plant for the front and rear wheels of Maruti cars.
