Suburban rail fare

An average monthly pass on Mumbai's suburban section costs only 2 per cent of a monthly metro pass in Washington, D.C. If you consider that the rupee is approximately 2 per cent in value to the dollar, the Purchasing Power Parity Principle underscores that the fare difference should be what it is.

But the levels of service are a different matter altogether, in which unfortunately, economics cannot help.
