MUMBAI: A new consultancy service designed to meet the technology and business needs of large corporations and entrepreneurs with early state privately held technology companies has been set up by Mr Frank Tomasino, founder and former Chairman of Foodtrader.com, the first business-to-business (B-to-B) portal for the food and agriculture industry.

Named Orbion Consulting Inc., the new venture will offer expertise to companies needing assistance with their private exchanges, vendor sourcing, logistics, marketing, sales, business development, operational and technical developmental needs as well as venture capital.

The focus of Orbion will be to target companies that have Internet technology needs related to procurement management, international trade, or software for business development, in addition to consulting services to mid and large size companies that may need to boost the productivity of their supply chain automation, Mr Tomasino said.

According to Jupiter Media Matrix, although growth has been slow because of slowdown in spending on discretionary software and services, by the year 2006 B-to-B commerce will account for 36 per cent or $ 5.4 trillion of all such transactions.
