CLRI-NEDFi drive to promote leather sector

GUWAHATI, Jan. 27

THE Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Chennai, at the instance of the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation (NEDFi), recently carried out a pre-investment feasibility study to identify opportunities in leather sector in the north-eastern region and embarked on intensive field activities in the region under the Leather Technology Mission.

Recently, CLRI and NEDFi jointly organised a two-day Entrepreneurship development programme of leather sector in the N-E at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship here. The programme attracted promoters from all the north-eastern States. It covered a wide range of issues connected with the leather sector such as raw materials resource in the region, scope for leather processing, manufacturing and marketing of leather products, industrial infrastructure and financial support system, export promotion programme and market for products in the region.
