Samsung targeting Rs 1,520-cr sales

BANGALORE, Jan. 25

SAMSUNG India Electronics Ltd is targeting sales of Rs 1,520 crores from its consumer electronics and home appliances business in the year 2002. The company achieved sales of Rs 1,350 in 2001 registering a growth of 12 per cent over its sales in the year 2000.

Commenting on the company's performance in the last calender year, Mr R. Zutshi, Vice President (Sales), Samsung India, said, ``the highlight of our performance in 2001 was the fact that we consolidated our home appliances business. In CTVs, we attained a volume growth of 24 per cent and were able to notch up market share of 11 per cent in the domestic market.''

Home appliances contributed Rs 560 crores or 41.5 per cent of SIEL's turnover. Consumer electronics added Rs 790 crores or 58 per cent of the company's turnover, Mr Zutshi added. The company expects home appliances to contribute 44 per cent of the total turnover this year.
