CHENNAI, Jan. 25

SUNDARAM Finance and Indian Oil Corporation on Friday launched a smart card — Power Plus — for fleet operators, to enable them to draw fuel and lubricants at IOC petrol stations.

The card would eliminate the need for drivers to carry large amounts of cash for the purpose, as well as enable the operator to track his fleet's movement based on the location of the last drawn fuel.

The card also provides for both pre-paid as well as credit options as well as accident cover to both the fleet operator and driver.

The Power Plus card would be made available on all the major highways and trunk routes in the South and later nationally. The Chief Secretary, Tamil Nadu Government, Mr P. Shankar, handed over the first card to Mr P. Sengodan, President, All-India Motor Transport Congress, at a function in Chennai.
