Further rise in rubber prices

Our Correpondent

KOTTAYAM: Rubber prices made further gains as suppliers held back stocks following reports that certain international trading organisations had evinced interest in the Indian rubber.

Buyers' efforts to make some purchases did not succeed as suppliers bargained for better offers. Even short-covering efforts of trading circles were hardly fruitful as many suppliers were not prepared for offers below the MSP.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 firmed up to Rs 31 per kg against Rs 30 on Thursday and RSS 5 increased to Rs 29 from Rs 28. Block rubber ISNR 20 edged up to Rs 28.50 from Rs 27.50 and ungraded rubber rose to Rs 28 from Rs 27 per kg. Latex 60 per cent ruled steady at Rs 28 per kg.
