Telecommunications Corporate - Outlook Bharti plans basic telephony in Karnataka soon Our Bureau
MANGALORE, Jan. 25 BHARTI Telenet Ltd (BTNL) plans to launch its basic telephony services in `major cities' in Karnataka over the next three to four months. The areas to be covered include Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Udupi and Manipal. Other cities are to be covered within 24 months of the launch of its services. According to BTNL representatives here, the company has received licences to commence services in four States - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Delhi - and plans to cover all circles with an estimated investment of Rs 1,500 crore. Bharti had started the first private basic telephone services in Madhya Pradesh in 1998.
