`The Government is implementing IT projects not just for the sake of IT but to make it useful for the society covering villages.'

HYDERABAD, Jan. 21

THE Andhra Pradesh Government is set to bring out an IT framework for public private participatory (PPP) approach under which over 50 representative IT projects will be announced for development under a `6C implementation model.'

The State Secretary, Information Technology and Communication, Mr J. Satyanarayana, said the framework was in the final stages and aimed at leveraging the PPP model wherein private companies can work with the Government to develop and deploy IT projects.

"The 6C implementation model will involve content development, building competencies and providing connectivity for citizen interface. This will be backed by necessary cyber law framework aimed at capital creation," Mr Satyanarayana said.

"Backed by the fact that IT is a major growth engine, we had enlisted the services of consultants PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) to draw up an IT architecture, public key infrastructure (PKI) and other security related issues.

Following their findings and suggestions, we are working towards a framework that would involve development of projects with private participation.

This will be because Government alone cannot address such projects, given the resource constraints,'' he said.

"We had drawn up a big picture as to the road ahead for the Andhra Pradesh Government with various IT initiatives. IT is not a fad but aimed at improving citizens' life.

The Government is implementing IT projects not just for the sake of IT but to make it useful for the society covering villages.

With the optical fibre cable connectivity spread across the State, the last mile issues are being addressed. The ultimate goal is to provide single window service for both citizens and businesses,'' he said.

"The other important initiative - OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) system will handle both vertical and horizontal coverage across the State. This will be a Rs 250 crore State-wide project and a pilot initiative will cover two districts and be ready soon,'' he said.
