Nov oilmeal exports up
Our Bureau
MUMBAI, Dec. 12
THANKS to a seasonal surge in soyameal shipment and continuing overseas interest in rapeseed extraction, oilmeal exports in November showed a significant increase to register 3.96 lakh tonnes. This takes aggregate oilmeal shipment during the first eight
months of the current fiscal to 11.4 lt, up from 11.1 lt during the same period last year.
According to the Solvent Extractors Association of India (SEA), a pick up in soyabean processing boosted export shipment in November to 3.6 lt, while rapeseed meal exports were 14,450 tonnes.
Groundnut extractions (5,126 tonnes) and castorseed meal (15,600 tonnes) accounted for the rest.
In April-November 2001 period soyameal shipments totalled 8.88 lt (down from 10 lt previous year); rapeseed meal 1.78 lt (up from 39,200 tonnes); groundnut extraction 9,651 tonnes (up from 7,7078 tonnes); and castormeal 64,907 tonnes (60,023 tonnes).
