Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Dec. 12

BIRLA Electricals Ltd on Wednesday said it has tied up with DeLonghi of Italy to launch consumer home appliances such as heaters and kitchen appliances in the country.

Initially, the appliances would be imported from Italy, and in the long run, local manufacturing would be considered, the Chairman of Birla Electricals, Mr Yash Birla, said at a press conference.

"We are in the process of finalising a suitable location (for manufacturing the products)," Mr Birla said.

The company intends to begin local assembly of imported parts before commencing local production, he said.

The present tie-up with DeLonghi is only for franchisee agreement and lending of brand name to the products.

The products would be marketed under the Birla-DeLonghi brand name.
