RPL reports 107% capacity usage in H1
Our Bureau
MUMBAI, Oct. 24
DESPITE a continuous fall in the domestic consumption of petroleum products, the country's largest refinery, Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL), has reported a 107 per cent capacity utilisation in the first half of the current fiscal. RPL has said its refinery
operated at 107 per cent during the first six months of the current year against 93 per cent in the same period last year.
The refinery processed 14.4 million tonnes of crude in the first half as compared to 12.6 million tonnes last year. The 27 million tonne per annum refinery has an operating rate higher than other Indian, North American and European refineries, a company
release said.
Meanwhile, RPL's parent, Reliance Industries Ltd, said the operating rate for all its plants was 104 per cent in the first half of the current financial year.
The plants have operated at high rates despite an overall demand slowdown in the economy and downtrend in the petrochemicals cycle combined with sharp falls in import tariffs, the release said.
